art & stuff
just got back from the picasso museum, located a mere 7 minute walk from my apartment in el born. i wasn’t terribly impressed by the collection as a whole, but my expectations were pretty high considering that this is the picasso museum, and the curators of the world have been cherry-picking his best works for decades. it did have some great pieces toward the end, including, my personal favorite, a series of four paintings of pigeons from the late 50s, of which i couldn’t find any decent photos to share.
also at the end of the collection is a fascinating and incredibly obsessive series of nearly 50 paintings  exploring the composition of velazquez’s opus las meninas. the image above is one of my favorites from the series.
